1. What was your favourite show that you saw in 2015?
This is a tricky first question as I saw SO many good shows in 2015. Overall it will have to be The Bodyguard (The Musical). Or for a concert it will have to be John Barrowman. I also saw The Book Of Mormon which I loved.
2. If you could play any role in any musical (regardless of age, sexuality, race, gender, etc.) who would it be and why?
Rachel Marron in The Bodyguard. I think every musical theatre fan goes through stages of listening to and obsessing over a certain musical, at the moment mine is The Bodyguard. Literally obsessed!
3. Who is your biggest inspiration?
Overall I have to say my mum. Sadly she passed away in 2011 very suddenly from cancer, but she was literally the most supportive person in the entire world. Even when things got really tough, she always stayed so positive, and this is something that I have acquired from her, I strive to make her so proud.
From a career point of view, John Barrowman is someone I look up to a huge amount. He has had such a successful career which started in West End musicals, and now he is able to do his own concerts (Something I REALLY want to do one day!). When I saw him live I got so emotional thinking about the possibility that I could be doing that further down the line in my career! It WILL happen.
4. If, right at this moment, someone said "Sing a song! Now!" What would you sing?
Probably "Why God Why" from Miss Saigon. Purely because it is a song I have been singing a lot recently during auditions for various projects, so I am fully comfortable performing it.
5. If you were stuck on a desert island with a book, a musical soundtrack and an actor, what/who would they be and why?
The book would HAVE to be Miranda Hart's autobiography "Is It Just Me" because I love her, and it would keep me laughing (which is one of my favourite things to do!). The Musical soundtrack would have to be the Original Broadway Cast Recording of "Finding Neverland" as the score is spectacular, but also the themes and intentions behind the show are something I can relate to. The actor would have to be John Barrowman, as I think I could learn a huge amount from his experiences and advice for an aspiring Musical Theatre performer.
6. You're already very successful on YouTube - would you ever consider blogging?
I have actually done blogs in the past, but I never seem to be able to stick to it because I get so busy with various things! I would love to start Vlogging (Video Blogging) on my YouTube channel in the future, but I am waiting for my life to become exciting enough for people to actually want to watch those kinds of videos! I will do it one day.
7. What’s your favourite quote from a play or musical?
"Sometimes people leave you halfway through the woods. Do not let it grieve you, No one leaves for good"
8. What would you say is your favourite musical theatre song EVER?
BIG question! I am going to be cheeky and name a few. Overall it would probably be "You Can't Stop The Beat" from Hairspray as it is such a feel good song, I HAVE to get up and dance when it comes on. Another favorite is "I Am What I Am" from La Cage Aux Folles because it has such a strong message to it. And lastly I love the song "Don't Be Anything Less Than Everything You Can Be" from Snoopy the musical as the lyrics are spectacular but has a genuine intention behind the song which always leaves me feeling very positive & determined.
9. What shows are you excited to see in 2016?
I have SO many shows booked for 2016! I was quite clever and bought my closest friends tickets to different shows for Christmas, so I get to go and see them all. One show I am particularly excited about seeing is the new production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang because it was the first West End show I saw and is the reason I wanted to pursue Musical Theatre as my career. I am also excited about seeing Aladdin the Musical, as I used to stage mini performances of Aladdin in my bedroom when I was younger, and have wanted there to be a stage musical for years, and now there is, so that will be a special moment too.
10. What are your aims for 2016 and the more distant future?
I have a feeling 2016 is going to be a great year! From experience I know that you shouldn't set your heart on a specific plan, as things will ALWAYS change in life, but I have some very exciting opportunities that I hope to make happen this year. Most of them are not 100% confirmed yet, so I do not want to say anything specific. However it is all very much a work in progress and if it all works out, you will hopefully be seeing a lot more of me in the future! One thing for certain is that I know I will be making more videos on YouTube and more One Man Medleys. Onwards And Upwards!
